SDSU insists that SoccerCity refrain from using inaccurate and misleading statements about the University in its campaign materials and outreach
SAN DIEGO (September 24, 2018) – Friends of SDSU, proponents of Measure G, issued the below statement following the release of a new letter from San Diego State University officials to SoccerCity proponents. In the letter, San Diego State University insists that SoccerCity refrain from using factually inaccurate and misleading statements about the University’s “SDSU Mission Valley” plan and proposed financing mechanisms, as well as the University’s growth potential.
“It is clear that SoccerCity does not have San Diego State University’s best interests at heart and blocks the University’s growth potential,” said Katy Temple, Measure G spokesperson. “Measure G is the only initiative that creates an opportunity for San Diego State University to acquire the stadium site at fair market value for a critically-needed campus expansion that will not rely on taxpayer dollars, tuition increases or students fees. Ultimately, Measure G provides the greatest benefit for all San Diegans by increasing access to higher education, delivering a public river park and fueling our regional economy long-term.”
