Second rejection of meritless FS Investors-backed lawsuit affirms SDSU West initiative goal to expand San Diego State University on Mission Valley stadium site
SAN DIEGO, CA (July 19, 2018) – A State Appellate Court rejected an appeal filed by SoccerCity promoters yesterday, upholding a recent Superior Court ruling that Friends of SDSU and its SDSU West initiative’s use of the San Diego State University name in its campaign is legal and appropriate.
“The appellate court’s ruling is another victory for Friends of SDSU and San Diego voters. It marks the second failed attempt by FS Investors to remove our initiative from the ballot and deny voters a choice regarding the future of the Mission Valley stadium site. SDSU West is the only initiative that creates the opportunity for landlocked San Diego State University to acquire the stadium site for a campus expansion that will increase higher education opportunities in our region for generations to come. We look forward to continuing SDSU West’s positive momentum toward a successful election day in November.”
