Economic Impact

SDSU’s economic contributions to our region cannot be understated. San Diego State University has a $5.67 billion annual impact on our region. The university supports some 42,000 jobs that generate $2.01 billion in salaries and wages. In addition to the $5.67 billion in industry activity, SDSU produces $457 million annually in state and local taxes. Expanding the landlocked university will only enhance those numbers for the region’s economy.

From the Report

“SDSU contributes an estimated $2.4 billion annually to the San Diego City economy through approximately 35,000 students, about 9,000 university and auxiliary employees, and nearly 240,000 local alumni. The growth of SDSU will assist the region in providing employment opportunities for a highly trained and educated workforce and promoting the City as a great place to live and work.”
